Ranchi. Police have busted a gang of cyber criminals and arrested five people in Gonda police station area of Ranchi. A large number of bank passbooks, debit cards, chequebooks, mobile phones and Aadhaar cards have been recovered from the accused. A case has been registered in this regard at Gonda police station and further action is being taken. Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said that on May 28, at around 8 pm, secret information was received that some youth were committing crimes related to cyber fraud in a flat of Rock View Apartment near Dhawan Nagar, Chandni Chowk of Gonda police station area. For verification of information and action, a team of Gonda police station in-charge and armed forces was formed under the leadership of Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police Sadar. The police team raided the flat, where five people were found in suspicious condition. During the search, 50 passbooks, 26 debit cards, eight check books, 13 mobile phones and three Aadhaar cards issued in different names by different banks were recovered from them.
The police have confiscated all the items. During police interrogation, the accused told that bank accounts were opened by preparing fake identity cards and incidents of cyber fraud were carried out through those accounts.
The accused also told that the flat where they were staying belonged to a person named ‘Nikhil Bhaiya’. It was by him that he was called there and taught how to commit cyber crimes. The arrested accused include Kajal Kumar Mandal, resident of Jamtara, Anand Kumar and Shakib Ansari, residents of Ramgarh, Bikki Kumar, resident of Bokaro and a minor resident of Ramgarh.
The raiding team included Gonda police station in-charge Abhay Kumar Sinha, police sub-inspector Sunny Kumar, Om Prakash Prasad, assistant sub-inspector Ramjanm Prasad and armed forces personnel. The police is busy searching for the entire network and the absconding accused.
