Greater Noida, October 13 (). CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) Awareness Week was grandly launched at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (JIMS), Greater Noida. It will be celebrated till 17th October.
The program started at Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Office, Vikas Bhawan. District Magistrate Medha Rupam inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp.
On this occasion, Brigadier (Dr.) Rakesh Gupta, Director, GIMS; Shivkant Dwivedi, Chief Development Officer; SP. Singh, District Development Officer; Dr. Narendra Kumar, Chief Medical Officer along with senior faculty members of GIMS, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Dr. Manbendra Baidya, Dr. Sonal Singh and Dr. Ankit Gupta were present.
During the awareness session, participants were given information about Compression-Only Life Support and hands-on CPR training was provided by experts. The participants also pledged to provide immediate assistance in case of cardiac arrest.
In the same sequence, a CPR awareness program was also organized in the GIMS Hospital campus, where Brigadier (Dr.) Rakesh Gupta, while addressing the gathering, said that CPR is a life-saving technique, which every citizen should learn. Giving CPR on time can save someone’s life.
The program included Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, CMS; Pro. (Dr.) Rambha Pathak, Dean; Dr. Bhupendra S. Yadav, Faculty Incharge Administration and many senior doctors participated. With the aim of taking this initiative to the community, six special CPR training teams have been formed, led by Dr. Manbendra Baidya, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Santosh Verma, Dr. Sumedh and Dr. Sonal Singh.
The teams will conduct training and awareness sessions not only at the GIMS campus but also in nearby educational institutions such as Savitri Bai Phule Government Girls College, GL Bajaj Institute and Galgotias University. This week-long campaign reflects GIMS’s commitment to community health promotion, emergency preparedness and dissemination of life-saving skills.
The effort of the organization is that every citizen can become a ‘first responder’ by learning CPR and contribute in saving someone’s life in case of disaster.
