Vande Bharat Sleeper train running from Patna, Bihar to Delhi is being developed as a new premium night travel service of Indian Railways. The train will have a total of 16 coaches, which include 11 AC-3 coaches, 4 AC-2 coaches and 1 AC-1 coach. The entire train will have a total of 827 berths: 611 in AC-3, 188 in AC-2 and 24 in AC-1. As the number of passengers increases, Railways can add more coaches to this train as per the need.
It is expected that this Vande Bharat train will provide premium experience to the passengers at low fares. The first two rakes of Vande Bharat sleeper train are almost ready at the BEML factory in Bengaluru. The first rake will be delivered on December 12, after which it will be operated for trial runs on the Delhi-Patna route. The aim of the Railways is to make this train operational before the New Year, so that the passengers of Bihar and Delhi will get a new option for fast and comfortable travel throughout the night.

Currently, 164 chair car Vande Bharat trains are running in the country, which are manufactured at the ICF factory in Chennai. This new sleeper version is designed for long distance and overnight journeys, as a long standing demand from passengers. The interior design of the train has been designed to provide flight-like and modern hotel-like facilities to the passengers. Every berth is equipped with a USB reading lamp, so that one can read at night without disturbing others. The Real-Time Passenger Information System will provide train location, next station and other important information through screen and audio. Wi-Fi and infotainment will also be available throughout the journey. A modular pantry has been created to ensure fresh food is available.

The bio-vacuum toilet will run on a touch-free system, and the first AC will also have hot water showers. Ergonomic stairs have been installed to reach the upper berth, making it easy to climb up and down. Special arrangements have been made for PRM-friendly toilets and berths for the disabled and elderly. Vande Bharat is also very modern in terms of sleeper safety.
