The United States has recently announced its withdrawal from partnerships and participation in dozens of UN bodies. These UN bodies include programs and initiatives focused on a number of key areas, including the climate crisis, trade, gender equality and development. What will be the effects of all this? After this official announcement by the US, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, while giving information to the journalists, said that the UN will continue to fulfill the mandates assigned by its member countries with ‘determination’. In the memorandum issued by the US President last Wednesday (January 7), it has been said that the country will, to the extent permitted under the law, end its participation in the listed institutions and the financial assistance given to them.
