New Delhi . India and Japan have signed several agreements to enhance cooperation in the field of health research and quantum technology. This will further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in the field of science, technology and innovation. In an official statement, the Ministry of Science and Technology said that these agreements were made during the high-level meeting between Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh and Japan’s Science and Technology Policy Minister Kimi Onoda. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOC) for cooperation in the field of health and medical devices was signed between Japan Medical Research and Development Agency, Indian Council of Medical Research and Department of Science and Technology.
Additionally, a Letter of Intent (LOI) was also signed between the Cabinet Office of Japan and the Department of Science and Technology of India for cooperation in quantum science and technology, which will open new avenues of cooperation in future advanced technologies.

Addressing the meeting, Jitendra Singh said that there is natural synergy between India and Japan in the field of science and technology. Japan’s advanced technology and India’s skilled human resources complement each other.
He said that work is being done rapidly in India in areas like quantum technology, cyber-physical systems, electric mobility, clean energy and advanced computing, which is creating new opportunities for joint research and industrial partnerships.
