Jammu, January 5 (). Jammu Police, continuing its continuous campaign against illegal activities, took a major action in RS Pura area on Monday. The police took decisive action against gambling and arrested six people.
In fact, during routine patrolling in the jurisdiction of RS Pura police station on January 5, the police received specific and credible information about illegal gambling in Chohala near Peer Baba. Acting promptly, the police team raided the spot and arrested six people involved in gambling activities.
The accused were identified as Kamaljeet Singh, Suresh Kumar, Amandeep, Surjeet Kumar, Sunny Kumar and Balwinder Kumar. All the accused are residents of Chohala belonging to RS Pura, Jammu.
During the raid, police recovered stake amount of Rs 5,960 and playing cards from the spot. A case has been registered against all the accused under Section 13 of the Gambling Act. Further legal action is underway.
This operation was conducted by the police team of RS Pura Police Station under the supervision of SHO Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar.
Jammu Police reiterates its strong commitment towards maintaining law and order and warns that strict action against gambling and other illegal activities will continue.
Earlier on Sunday, South Zone of Jammu Police achieved a major success in its continuous operation against narcotics and illegal weapons. During routine patrolling by Police Station Satwari, a suspicious person was caught in Dashmesh Nagar Park near MBS College. During the search, a large quantity of narcotics and a sharp weapon were recovered from him.
According to the police, the arrested person has been identified as Sanjay Mishra s/o Raju Mishra, resident of House No. 404, Jawahar Nagar, Narwal Pen, Satwari, District Jammu. Many materials were seized from the arrested person, including Alprazolam Tablet IP. A total of 975 tablets of 0.5 mg, 264 capsules of dicyclomine, tramadol HCl and acetaminophen, one sharp edged weapon and Rs 2,630 in cash were recovered.
