Jodhpur. The cultural heritage of Surya Nagri and the unique ‘Hathai tradition’ of the inner city left the new Police Commissioner Omprakash Paswan emotional. The commissioner, who reached the locality of Gundi in the interior area late on Wednesday night, was given a grand welcome by the residents of the area as per Marwari tradition. During this, the Commissioner closely felt the culture of Jodhpur, folk singing and the affinity of the people here.
The Police Commissioner thoroughly enjoyed the traditional ‘Shilal Phag Gayan’ echoing in the inner city as Holi approached. They became emotional after listening to traditional songs like “Lage Tu Futari” sung by local artists. He said that he has learned such lessons from the inner city environment, which is directly connected to the heart. It is the affinity here that keeps people strongly connected to each other.
Jodhpur’s energy looked alive even at midnight
The Police Commissioner was surprised to see the same energy and enthusiasm in the city even at 12 o’clock in the night. He said in his address – “I should have come to Jodhpur much earlier. It is 12 o’clock at night, but there is the same energy and familiarity in the city. It does not seem that it is night. This is a city of loved ones and closeness.”
Call to save the vanishing ‘Hatai tradition’
During the visit, ADCP Chhavi Sharma gave detailed information to the Police Commissioner about the ancient ‘Hathai tradition’ (tradition of group dialogue) of Jodhpur. He called upon the youth to keep alive these disappearing cultural heritages.
On this occasion, Govind of Gundi locality, S.P. A large number of area residents including Thanvi, Shailu, Vipin, Keshav, Robin, Narayan Das Pinji, Hiralal, Raju, Lalji, Deepu and Chintu greeted the Police Commissioner.
