Ontario (Canada). The murder of a well-known Canadian social media influencer and Khalistani critic has shocked the Punjabi community there. Till now no one has been arrested in this case. At the same time, investigators are struggling to find the culprits in LaSalle, a city in the Windsor-Essex area of Ontario.
Nancy Grewal, 45, was stabbed to death at her home on March 3. According to reports, emergency services arrived after receiving news of the stabbing at around 9:30 pm. Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services paramedics found Grewal bleeding. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but he died shortly after.
According to Khalsa Vox report, “Grewal was a well-known social media influencer and YouTuber in the Punjabi community. She gained attention for her outspoken comments on Punjab-related issues, Indian politics and diaspora affairs. She often criticized Khalistani extremists and movements, including Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the banned organization Sikhs for Justice.”
The report further said, “Grewal accused Pannun and similar extremists of being influenced by external forces, defaming Sikh institutions and dividing the people. He issued an open challenge to Khalistan supporters, asked critics to speak directly on issues in India rather than abroad, and condemned the misuse of Gurdwaras for separatist propaganda.”
In a statement released on Thursday (Indian time), the LaSalle Police Service said investigators were treating it as an “isolated” incident.
“LaSalle Police Service is continuing to investigate a homicide that occurred on Toad Lane just before 9:30 p.m. on March 3, 2026. The victim is Nancy Grewal, 45, of Windsor. LaSalle Police Service extends our deepest sympathies to Grewal’s family and friends. To ease the public’s concerns, we are sharing that investigators are treating this as an isolated incident,” a statement from the local police service said.
Police officials shared a number and appealed that they are also seeking video surveillance from anyone living nearby.
Meanwhile, Khalsa Vox reported Thursday that Grewal’s death has shocked the local Windsor-LaSalle community and online followers.
