quota. The Kota unit of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has achieved a major breakthrough on the basis of a confidential information. Suspicious amount of Rs 1,55,275 has been recovered from the car of Kotri Panchayat Samiti Development Officer (BDO) Ram Vilas Meena of Bhilwara district, who was recently made APO.
ACB had received information from reliable sources that despite being made APO, Ram Vilas Meena misused his position. It is alleged that he passed the bills of the contractors on backdates and collected huge amount from them illegally. Information was received that they were coming from Bhilwara towards Kota in their Maruti Swift car (RJ17 CA 5312) with this illegal amount. As soon as the information was received, the ACB team laid a trap near the Hanging Bridge toll post on Kota-Chittor road. As soon as the suspicious car reached there, the team stopped it and searched it. During intensive checking of the car, cash worth Rs 1,55,275 was recovered. When Ram Vilas Meena was asked about the source of this amount, he could not give any satisfactory answer. After this, ACB confiscated the said amount considering it illegal.
This action was taken under the direction of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Anand Sharma. The team was led by ACB Kota’s Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Swarnkar, while the team of Deputy Superintendent of Police Aneesh Ahmed carried out surprise checking on the spot.
According to the ACB Headquarters, a case has been registered against the accused officer under the Prevention of Corruption Act and advance investigation has been started. The Bureau is also investigating from which contractors this amount was taken and who else is involved in this corruption network.
