Rajgarh, December 26 (). A sudden fire broke out in the medicine store room of Rajgarh District Hospital in Madhya Pradesh on Friday evening. Seeing the flames and thick smoke rising, an atmosphere of chaos was created in the hospital premises. As soon as information about the incident was received, teams of administration, health department, police and fire brigade immediately reached the spot.
Several fire brigade vehicles were called from Rajgarh, Biaora and surrounding areas to extinguish the fire. The fire could be controlled after rescue and fire operations that lasted for about two hours. During this time, SDM Nidhi Bhardwaj, CMHO Dr. Shobha Patel along with senior officials of the health department and police officers remained continuously present on the spot.
According to preliminary information, the cause of the fire is said to be short circuit. The fire spread so fast that the medicines, medical items and other materials kept in the store room were burnt to ashes. Due to the fire, a thick cloud of smoke spread around the building, seeing which a large number of people gathered at the spot.
Seeing the seriousness of the situation, the municipality and police team broke the shutter of the store room with the help of JCB so that the fire could be accessed and extinguished effectively. After this, the fire personnel controlled the fire by continuously pouring water.
Rajgarh CMHO Dr. Shobha Patel said that preliminary information has been received that earlier a loud noise had come from the transformer. Immediately after this, a fire broke out in the refrigerator kept in the medicine store room, which quickly spread to the entire store room. Due to the high speed of the fire, it could not be controlled at the initial stage.
At present the fire has been completely extinguished and the situation is under control. The damage is being assessed by the administration. It is a matter of relief that no casualties have been reported in this incident. A detailed investigation into the matter is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
