Chandigarh. Minerva Academy FC continued their impressive run in the AIFF Junior League with a 4-0 thrashing of Namdhari FC and completed the double against their rivals. With this win, Minerva has registered six wins in six matches and strengthened its position at the top of the table with 18 points. The team’s goal difference is +46, which reflects their aggressive and balanced playing style.
Coming off the back of a massive 13-0 win over YFC Gulf in the previous match, Minerva displayed their fitness and discipline for the third consecutive match. Despite playing three matches in six days, there was no lack in the team’s performance. The very beginning of the match was like a dream for Minerva. In the very second minute, Gretson Hidam gave the team the lead with a brilliant header from a corner. This early goal set the tone for the match and Minerva controlled the ball throughout the first half.
In the 42nd minute, Minerva’s lead was doubled by Namdhari captain Karanbir Singh’s suicide goal and the team was ahead 2-0 till half-time.
Minerva maintained its aggressive stance in the second half also. Lunglaithang Haokip took advantage of an excellent move and scored the third goal. In the end, Laishram Mahesh calmly scored the fourth goal to make the match 4-0 for Minerva.
Six consecutive wins, plenty of goals and strong defense show the strength of Minerva. The team is now preparing to face Shergil Soccer Academy in its next match and is moving strongly towards the final round of the league.
