The ongoing suspense regarding the formation of the new government in Tamil Nadu now seems to be ending. TVK leader Vijay has taken a decisive step towards becoming the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. On Thursday (May 7), he met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and formally staked claim to form the government. According to sources, Vijay assured the Governor that he had the necessary support and would easily prove majority in the Assembly after the swearing-in ceremony.

He also informed the Governor about the support of various political parties and MLAs who have formed an alliance with his government. During the meeting, Vijay expressed confidence in his ability to maintain stability in the administration. Sources say that Governor Arlekar seemed satisfied with Vijay’s presentation and his claims. After this, he formally invited Vijay to form the government.
When can Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony take place?
With this decision of the Governor, the intense political speculations going on in Tamil Nadu have come to an end. Now it is expected that the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held soon. According to sources, the ceremony is likely to take place in Chennai on Friday or Saturday. Prominent leaders of TVK, representatives of allies and various well-known political figures from across the country are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Earlier – on Wednesday (May 6) – staking claim to form the government, Vijay had met Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at Lok Bhawan and submitted the list of TVK and Congress party MLAs who support him. However, at that time the Governor had not yet taken any decision on inviting Vijay to form the government or how to conduct the swearing-in ceremony. As a result, Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday (May 7), was cancelled.
