Relations between India and Pakistan are very tense at this time. In such a situation, leaders of both the countries can be seen on the same stage. However, this will not be for any bilateral meeting or formal talks, but during the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Bangladesh. The swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Bangladesh is scheduled to take place on 17 February. The event will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building in Dhaka on Tuesday at 4 pm. Representatives from many countries including India and Pakistan are expected to attend the event.
Pakistani ministers will also attend
Many well-known international personalities are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. These include Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nand Sharma, Sri Lanka’s Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa and Britain’s Indo-Pacific Under Secretary Seema Malhotra. Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu is also expected to attend the ceremony. According to diplomatic rules, invitations have been sent to all the countries. However, some countries have not yet confirmed officially.
Lok Sabha Speaker will represent India
On Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will attend the swearing-in ceremony. In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said that Om Birla’s presence on this important occasion reflects the deep and strong friendship between India and Bangladesh. It also shows India’s commitment to the democratic values that bind the two countries. The statement further said that as neighboring countries bound by shared history, culture and mutual respect, India welcomes the formation of the elected government led by Tariq Rehman. His vision and values have received immense support from the public.
Preparations in full swing
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are already underway at the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat. Traditionally, this ceremony usually takes place in the designated swearing-in hall of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan. It is noteworthy that in the 13th parliamentary elections, voting was held for 299 seats out of 300 on February 12.
