Noida. The police of Phase-1 police station of Noida have busted a vicious inter-state gang carrying out incidents of mobile theft and snatching and arrested four accused. Police have recovered 70 mobile phones, 28 iPads, one tablet, 265 mobile phone parts, an Apple TV device and a scooter used in the crime from the possession of the accused. According to the police, this gang has carried out more than 500 incidents so far and was active in many districts including Delhi-NCR. Police officials said that on Wednesday, with the help of local intelligence and electronic surveillance, four accused Firoz, Fardeen, Salim and Danish were arrested from Sector-14 Noida area. The arrested accused are residents of different areas of Delhi and were carrying out incidents of theft and snatching of mobile phones and other electronic devices in an organized manner for a long time. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to mark crowded places in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bulandshahr, Mathura and other districts. Especially, he used to take advantage of the opportunity by participating in religious programs, public meetings and fairs like common people. The accused said that to avoid suspicion, they used to change their identities and use Hindu names, so that no one in the crowd would doubt them. During this time, they used to steal expensive and trending iPhones, smartphones and tablets.
The accused used to supply stolen mobile phones and their parts ‘on demand’. They targeted only those devices which were in high demand in the market and stole them and then earned huge profits by selling their parts in different states. According to the police, the estimated value of the recovered electronic goods is around Rs 2 crore.
According to police records, several criminal cases are already registered against the four arrested accused in Delhi and Gautam Buddha Nagar. These include cases of theft, snatching and other serious sections. Police station Phase-1 says that further interrogation of the accused is being done, due to which other members associated with the gang and the theft network are also likely to be exposed.
