Mumbai Former MD of Raymond Group and Padma Bhushan awarded industrialist Vijaypat Singhania passed away at the age of 87. His son Gautam Singhania confirmed this through a social media post on Saturday. His last rites will be performed tomorrow, 29 March 2026. Gautam Singhania wrote on social media platform He described his father as a visionary leader, philanthropist and inspirational personality whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. His last rites will be performed at Chandanwadi crematorium in Mumbai on Sunday. Joining family and friends at 1:30 p.m. L.D. A request has been made to gather at the mansion located on Ruparel Marg.
Vijaypat Singhania will be remembered as a great industrialist who played an important role in making Raymond Group a strong and reputed company. He led the company for nearly two decades and remained chairman until 2000. After this, he handed over the responsibility of the company to his son Gautam Singhania and also gave him his 37 percent stake.
There were legal disputes between Vijaypat Singhania and Gautam Singhania a few years ago, although this matter was later resolved.
Born in 1938, Vijaypat Singhania was a successful industrialist as well as an aviator. In recognition of his contribution, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhushan in 2006. In addition, he also received an honorary PhD from the London Institute of Technology and Research.
The Indian Air Force appointed him Honorary Air Commodore in 1994, and he was also the Sheriff of Mumbai in 2006. Currently, Gautam Singhania is the Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond Group.
