New Delhi. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged complete chaos and gross mismanagement at the India-AI Impact Summit being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He said that the Modi government should learn from the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS). Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that the participants of the AI Impact Summit are facing many difficulties, such as the ban on personal electronic devices and bags, as well as the need to use cash instead of digital and UPI payments. “What could have been a showpiece AI summit showcasing India’s digital and AI capabilities to the entire world has turned into complete chaos and gross mismanagement by this PR-hungry government,” Kharge wrote on social media platform X.
He further said, “Founders, exhibitors and visitors, all are facing a lot of hassle as they rush to get in for a photo op on the very first day of the PM.”
The Congress chief alleged, “Exhibitors do not have food and water, their products are stolen, Digi Yatra fails miserably. Laptops, personal electronic devices and even bags are banned. Instead of digital/UPI payments, only cash is taken and founders have to pay huge amounts without basic facilities and there are many other problems.”
He said it was ‘very unfortunate’ that India ‘has to face this embarrassment across the world because of the incompetence of its own government.’
Kharge further said, “Perhaps the Modi government should learn from the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS), an annual event, on how to easily organize digital and tech programs on such a large scale.”
AI Impact Summit is an international summit on Artificial Intelligence, taking place in New Delhi from 16-20 February. The Ministry of External Affairs said that the summit is based on three ‘points’, ‘People, Planet and Progress’, which outline India’s framework for international cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The event aims to bring together global leaders, policymakers, innovators and subject-matter experts from around the world to discuss the future direction of Artificial Intelligence.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, ministerial delegations from more than 45 countries will also participate in the summit. The United Nations Secretary-General and senior representatives of many international organizations will be involved.
