Guwahati. Congress leader and AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has been summoned to appear before the Crime Branch on May 23 in the alleged passport dispute case involving Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Assam Police gave this information. According to sources, during interrogation, Congress leader Pawan Kheda had allegedly taken Surjewala’s name in this case. After this, the investigating agencies have started investigating the links of the case in more depth. The investigating agencies are also probing whether Gaurav Gogoi and Randeep Singh Surjewala were allegedly involved in planning a larger conspiracy related to the controversy. Assam Police says that all aspects are being investigated and further action will be taken based on the facts. Let us inform that during a press conference in the national capital Delhi before the Assam Assembly elections, Congress leader Pawan Khera had alleged that CM Sarma’s wife has passports of three countries, UAE, Antigua and Egypt. Additionally, it was also claimed that some foreign assets, including properties in Dubai, were not disclosed in the official filings. He had also alleged that a company registered in Wyoming, United States, was linked to Sarma and involved financial transactions worth thousands of crores of dollars.
The Congress leader termed the matter as a case of alleged concealment of assets and demanded an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the Union Home Ministry.
However, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma has completely rejected all these allegations, calling them baseless and malicious. He further alleged that the documents shown during the press conference were forged, with fabricated seals and QR codes affixed to look like government records.
