New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 23rd edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on Saturday. During this, he sharply criticized the previous governance model and colonial mentality, which he said had hindered India’s progress for many years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today India is the fastest growing large economy in the world. Some people call India a global growth engine. Some call it a global powerhouse. Many wonderful things are being said about India today. But looking at the rapid growth of India today, have you ever read anywhere or heard someone calling it ‘Hindu Rate of Growth’? When India is the fastest growing economy in the world, does anyone use this term anymore? The term ‘Hindu Rate of Growth’ was used when India was struggling for a growth rate of 2–3 percent. He said that this was a reflection of the mentality of slavery. An entire society, an entire tradition, was made synonymous with non-productivity, poverty. That is, an attempt was made to prove that the reason for India’s slow growth rate is our Hindu civilization and culture. And look at the extent, today the so-called intellectuals who keep finding communalism in everything, they did not see communalism in the Hindu rate of growth. This term was made a part of books and research papers during his time.
Prime Minister Modi said that this journey of today’s India is not just about development. This is also a journey of change in thinking, this is also a journey of psychological renaissance. You also know that no country can move forward without self-confidence.
He said that unfortunately the long slavery had shaken this self-confidence of India, and the reason for this was the mentality of slavery. This slavery mentality is a huge hindrance in achieving the goal of a developed India and hence, today’s India is working to get rid of the slavery mentality.
