The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project connecting Rajasthan with New Delhi through a fast, safe and modern transport network has gained new momentum. After the agreement between Rajasthan and Haryana governments, now Rajasthan is also going to become a part of Namo Bharat Network. Under this, Namo Bharat trains will operate between Delhi and Alwar. Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar corridor will start from Sarai Kale Khan station in New Delhi. This corridor will reach Khairthal and Alwar via SNB via Munirka, Aerocity, Gurugram and Bawal. Along with this, another section will also be developed from SNB to Sotnala via Neemrana and Behror. Officials of the Chief Minister’s Office of Rajasthan gave this information on Monday.
The project is expected to directly benefit the major industrial centers of the National Capital Region (NCR), especially Bhiwadi and Neemrana in Rajasthan. Along with this, new opportunities for investment, employment and economic development will also be created. Under the Integrated Transport Plan of the National Capital Region, work is being done to connect major cities with modern high-speed transport networks.
In the first phase, Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat-Karnal corridors are being developed. Of these, Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor has already been inaugurated. The proposed network will be a total of 196 kilometers long, consisting of 22 major stations.
Under this project in Rajasthan, 91 km long track and six proposed stations will be built. The corridor will have state-of-the-art infrastructure and high-speed trains running at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. All three ‘NaMo Bharat’ corridors are being developed as an interoperable network, so that passengers can travel on different routes without any hassle.
Sarai Kale Khan station of Delhi will be developed as the main interchange hub, where all the corridors will be interconnected. RRTS trains will run on dedicated elevated corridors, allowing road traffic-free and seamless travel. This network will also be connected to railway stations, interstate bus terminals, airports and Delhi Metro, so that passengers can get multimodal connectivity.
The Regional Rapid Transit System is being considered as the next generation public transport system developed for NCR. Its trains can run at speeds almost three times that of conventional metro services. While the metro is primarily meant for travel within the city, the RRTS aims to connect neighboring cities in a fast, safe and efficient manner. The Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar corridor passing through major industrial areas of Haryana and Rajasthan will strengthen regional connectivity and also give a new direction to the industrial development and expansion of infrastructure in Rajasthan.
