Before the meeting of the Presidents of the two countries, Russia has launched the biggest attack on Kiev so far. On the other hand, Zelensky is going to meet Trump in Florida to talk about a changed 20 point peace plan. This peace plan proposed by America was initially drafted in 28-points. Later it was changed to 20 points, although Russia is repeatedly saying that the war has to end and for this Ukraine will have to accept its conditions. However he is not ready to sign any agreement.
With its latest attack, Russia has indicated that it still has control over the land. If we look at the timing of the attack, Russia has launched this attack on Kiev before the meeting between Trump and Zelensky. In such a situation, it can be understood that perhaps Russia is strengthening its position before mediation with Trump. Putin is trying to increase pressure.
Russia is also sending the message that it still has the power to attack Kiev. Along with this, he has made one more thing clear that no pressure is going to work on Russia. Putin has clearly said that no country in the world can put pressure on Russia to agree to its point of view.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky had said that if Russia agreed to a ceasefire for at least 60 days, he was ready to hold a referendum on a peace plan to end the crisis.
In a phone interview with US media outlet Axios on Friday, Zelensky said he would still like to negotiate to improve the situation, but if the plan requires a “very difficult” decision on the issue, the best way forward would be to put the entire 20-point peace plan to a referendum, Xinhua reported.
He said a ceasefire of at least 60 days was necessary to hold the vote, as such a referendum would have major political, logistical and security implications.
