Sabarkantha. A massive clash broke out between two groups late Friday night in Moid village of Prantij tehsil of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat.
In this incident, incidents of stone pelting and arson took place, due to which tension spread in the village. Taking immediate action, the police have registered a complaint against more than 60 people and detained about 20 people. At present, peace has been restored in the village, and strict police vigil is deployed. According to the information, this clash started due to old rivalry regarding the management of Bhairavnath temple. At around 2 o’clock in the night, both the groups came face to face, after which stone pelting started. The mob also indulged in arson, damaging more than 10 two-wheelers and glass of some houses. More than 10 people have been injured in this uproar. A crowd of more than 100 people had gathered at the spot, to control which the police had to arrive immediately.
Himmatnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police A.K. Patel told journalists that an FIR has been registered against 110 to 120 people in this case. Police have detained 20 people and started questioning them. In the initial investigation, old enmity is being considered as the main reason for the clash. Police have taken the situation under control and further investigation is underway.
At the same time, people have demanded that concrete steps should be taken to prevent such incidents in future. Police have deployed additional forces in the village to maintain peace. Police said that all kinds of activities are being monitored in the surrounding area, so that any untoward situation can be prevented before it comes to the ground.
