Jaipur. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that farmers are the main pillars of the state’s economy and smooth power supply for agricultural works is the priority of the government. The Chief Minister gave clear instructions to the officials that adequate and uninterrupted power supply to farmers should be ensured in the upcoming Rabi season.
Sharma was presiding over a review meeting of the Energy Department at the Chief Minister’s Office on Sunday. He said that during the upcoming Rabi season, there should be no obstruction in the power supply system, for this all necessary preparations should be completed in a timely manner. The Chief Minister said that the maintenance work of power generation units should be completed on time, so that the production units do not have to shut down in any situation during the month of October to February during the Rabi season.
If required, buy electricity and make it available
Sharma said that due to good rains in the state in this monsoon season, the sowing area of crops has increased. This is likely to increase the demand for electricity during the Rabi season this year compared to the previous year. He directed the officials to purchase and provide additional power if required during peak demand, so that irrigation of Rabi crops is not affected. He said that battery storage capacity should also be increased for the power storage produced, so that the supply system can be further strengthened. He instructed to speed up the works of solar power projects to provide electricity during the day to farmers by 2027.
Along with farmers, consumers will also become energy providers
Sharma also reviewed the PM Suryaghar 150 units of free electricity scheme and PM Kusum Yojana in the meeting. He said that there is immense potential in the field of renewable energy in the state. The farmers of the state are being encouraged to adopt solar energy as well as domestic consumers of the state along with making energy provider through PM Kusum Yojana. With this, the consumer will be able to increase its income with additional energy along with meeting his energy needs.
It was informed in the meeting that 92 GSS has been created so far in FY 2025-26 to smooth power supply and the capacity of power transformers has increased by 576.35 MVA. Thus this year, a total capacity of 949.30 MVA has increased so far this year. Also, necessary equipment including transformer, conductor and cable is being procured for maintenance of electrical units.
Minister of State for Energy (Independent Charge) Hiralal Nagar and High Officer of Energy Department were present in the meeting.
