Thiruvananthapuram. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will not attend the important meeting called by the Congress high command regarding the Kerala Assembly elections. According to information received quoting sources, Tharoor is angry with the incidents that happened during the Mahapanchayat program recently organized in Kochi and he has seen it as an insult to him. According to sources, Shashi Tharoor had reservations about the seating arrangement during the Mahapanchayat, which he considered not to be in accordance with the protocol. It is being told that he was instructed to reach the venue 15 minutes early and finish his speech early. He was also told that only Rahul Gandhi would address after him. However, this did not happen later and after Rahul Gandhi, 6 other leaders also gave speeches, some of whom are said to be junior to Tharoor in terms of protocol.
If sources are to be believed, Rahul Gandhi did not take the name of Shashi Tharoor during his address, which further increased his anger. Tharoor sees this as him being ignored within the party.
It is noteworthy that differences have already surfaced between Shashi Tharoor and the leadership of Kerala state unit of Congress. These differences were resolved during the recent leadership meeting held in Wayanad. After that meeting, it was publicly said by Congress leaders and Shashi Tharoor that there is no dispute in the party. Tharoor had also made it clear that he would work closely with the state leadership.
Amidst the political turmoil, Shashi Tharoor will participate in the Kerala Literature Festival held in Kozhikode on Friday. It is believed that due to his distance from the party meeting and his indication of dissatisfaction regarding the Mahapanchayat, the internal politics of Kerala Congress has once again come into discussion. At present there is no official response from the Congress leadership on this issue.
