Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced his resignation on Thursday. He made the announcement during a breakfast meeting with his ministers at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Bengaluru. He informed the ministers about his decision. Siddaramaiah will go to Lok Bhavan at 3:00 pm. He will submit his resignation to the Governor’s office, as Karnataka’s current Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot is not present in Bengaluru at present. The Governor is currently in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is being told that he had gone there to meet an ailing relative. Siddaramaiah had called a cabinet meeting over breakfast at 10:30 am; It was during this meeting that he had to announce his resignation. After his resignation, D.K. The path has been cleared for Shivkumar to become the Chief Minister. There was a lot of internal turmoil going on regarding this matter for a long time.
**Siddaramaiah becomes Chief Minister on May 23, 2023**
Congress government was formed in Karnataka in 2023. Siddaramaiah took oath as Chief Minister on May 23, while D.K. Shivkumar was appointed Deputy Chief Minister. At that time, a power-sharing formula based on a two-and-a-half-year rotation (holding the post by turns) was discussed – which meant that Siddaramaiah would serve as the Chief Minister for the first two-and-a-half years, and D.K. Shivkumar will remain the Chief Minister. However, even after three years of the government’s tenure, the transfer of power had not taken place. Due to this situation Siddaramaiah and D.K. Disagreements arose among the factions loyal to Shivakumar.
**Siddaramaiah was not ready to leave the post of Chief Minister without any conditions**
D.K. The members of the group were continuously demanding that he should be made the Chief Minister. Recently, a big meeting was held in Delhi on this issue. After this meeting, Siddaramaiah agreed to step down as Chief Minister. However, before this Rahul Gandhi had talked to him. According to sources, it is believed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was not ready to resign without getting certain assurances. Under this arrangement, he is said to have been offered a Rajya Sabha seat, as well as a proposal to make his son the Deputy Chief Minister. In effect, it reflects the “Bihar model” of power-sharing. Just like Nitish had resigned from the post of Chief Minister in Bihar; In return, he was sent to Rajya Sabha and his son was given the post of minister.
