In view of the possibility of a large number of tourists from India and abroad arriving in Jaipur during New Year celebrations and tourist season, the traffic police has implemented a special traffic plan. In order to control the increasing crowd and traffic pressure, special traffic arrangements will be in effect in the boundary wall area and Amer area from December 27 to January 4. This decision has been taken to maintain smooth traffic on major routes, historical sites, religious places and markets of the city.

According to the traffic police, there is a huge increase in the number of tourists in Jaipur on the occasion of New Year. Traffic pressure increases especially in Amer Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Gangauri Bazaar and boundary area. Keeping this in mind, the police has prepared a predetermined traffic plan, which can be changed as per the situation if necessary. In case of increased traffic pressure, diversion of routes will be implemented with immediate effect.

Under the traffic plan, normal traffic from Badi Chowpar towards Subhash Chowk will operate from both sides of the road, so that the movement of vehicles remains smooth. Whereas vehicles coming from Subhash Chowk towards Badi Chowpar will be diverted towards Ramganj Chowpar via Char Darwaja-Ghoda Exit Road. This will avoid traffic jams in crowded areas.

Similarly, vehicles entering the boundary wall from Bandarwal Gate will be able to reach Gangauri Bazaar via Municipal Council’s Mori, Janani Deodhi and Sardul Singh’s drain. Police say that the use of these alternative routes will reduce traffic pressure in the main market areas.

Restrictions have also been imposed in some areas as part of traffic management. Traffic going from Gangauri Bazaar towards City Palace will be restricted. Apart from this, there will be a ban on movement of vehicles from Aatish Gate towards City Palace and Jantar Mantar. Only foot tourists will be allowed to enter these areas, so that crowding at tourist places can be controlled and security is maintained.

The traffic police has appealed to the general public and tourists to follow the traffic rules and use the prescribed routes only. Also, wherever possible, it has been advised to use public transport as much as possible. Police officials say that additional police force will be deployed during the entire period and monitoring will also be done through drones and CCTV cameras.
