New Delhi, . The tenth Chief Conclave started from today in the national capital Delhi. This two-day event will run from February 27 to 28, 2026. Former Army Chief of Nepal Army and Honorary General of Indian Army are also participating in this conclave. The tradition of conferring the title of Honorary General in the Indian Army on Nepali army chiefs is considered a symbol of the long-standing, deep and trustful military relations between India and Nepal. This tradition reflects the shared values, historical association and strong military heritage of both the countries. This unique military relationship between India and Nepal is based on mutual trust and cooperation. Experts believe that this arrangement is in line with India’s spirit of ‘Vishvabandhu’ and ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, under which India gives priority to strong and people-centric relations with its neighboring countries. Such events further strengthen the defense cooperation between the two countries.
The conclave began with a wreath laying ceremony at the National War Memorial. After this, important issues were discussed between the current army leadership and former army chiefs. Topics like operational preparedness, capacity development and current security challenges were discussed in detail in the meeting. Through this platform, dialogue is promoted between current and former military leadership, thereby enabling exchange of experiences and maintaining institutional continuity.
During the event, the former Army Chief will also visit some major military institutions and cultural sites as per the scheduled programme. The Chiefs Conclave is considered an important platform to preserve the institutional memories of the Indian Army, strengthen professional dialogue and further the spirit of mutual trust. This event is an important step towards strengthening coordination, understanding and traditions within the Army.
