Dehradun, December 17 (). Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday distributed an amount of Rs 33.22 crore in the bank accounts of 3848 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme online from CM Awas. He said that the state government has resolved that the youth of Uttarakhand should not become job seekers but job providers.
He said that Mukhyamantri Self-Employment Scheme is one of the major schemes of the state, which has played an important role in actually preventing migration, promoting reverse migration and creating employment at the local level.
CM Dhami said that migrants who returned during Covid-19, young entrepreneurs, artisans, handicraftsmen and educated unemployed are the main beneficiaries of this scheme. Under the scheme, loan facilities are being provided to the original and permanent residents of the state in the manufacturing, service and trade sectors through nationalized, cooperative and regional rural banks. Project cost up to Rs 25 lakh for manufacturing units and Rs 10 lakh for service and trading units is permissible. Under the scheme, 15 to 25 percent of the project cost is being provided as margin money subsidy. A target was set to include about 32 thousand beneficiaries under the scheme, till now more than 35 thousand beneficiaries have benefited from this scheme. Loans worth more than Rs 1,389 crore have been disbursed so far under the scheme, creating approximately 64,966 new jobs. This is proof that the scheme is working powerfully on the ground and not just on paper.
The Chief Minister described it as a ‘game changer scheme’ for small traders and the state towards self-reliance. He said that in view of the success of the scheme, Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana 2.0 (MSY 2.0) has been started from the year 2025, in which MSY and Nano scheme have been integrated. In the new system, the subsidy limit has been increased from 15 percent to 30 percent. Besides, provision of additional 5 percent subsidy has been made under the concept of geographical, social and product booster, which will make the scheme economically as well as socially powerful.
He said that the subsidy has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through online medium. This is a proof of the transparency, technology-based and corruption-free functioning of the government. Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme is not just a scheme, but a strong foundation of self-reliant Uttarakhand. Our aim is to have local enterprises in every district, employment in every village and work in the hands of every youth. Fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve of a self-reliant India, the double engine government is working towards making the youth of Uttarakhand self-reliant through self-employment.
During this period, CM Dhami also interacted with the beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme. Kamal Singh Partholi of Lohaghat, Champawat said that he has taken a loan of Rs 10 lakh under this scheme for a smart library. Currently 130 children are studying here, they will also create an e-library.
Pradeep Aggarwal of Udham Singh Nagar told that he took a loan of Rs 10 lakh for car service work, earlier he used to do cycle repairing work.
Jaspal of Uttarkashi told that he took a loan of Rs 10 lakh to establish a fitness club, now he is expanding it further.
Ayaan Mansoori of Pauri Garhwal told that he took a loan of Rs 10 lakh for the work of quilt and mattress manufacturing, many people are directly and indirectly associated with this employment. This year his turnover is estimated to be Rs 3 crore. Champa Devi of Bageshwar said that she had taken a loan of Rs 7 lakh for mobile sales and service. This work has increased their livelihood.
