With the change in weather patterns in the capital Delhi, a significant improvement in air quality has been recorded. Due to light rain and favorable weather conditions, the pollution level has come down, which has brought great relief to the general public. As a result, the administration has lifted the first phase of the ‘Graded Response Action Plan’ (GRAP)—a measure that was first implemented this year.

Since the rain on Sunday (March 15), Delhi’s air quality has seen a steady improvement. On Monday (March 16), the ‘Air Quality Index’ (AQI) was recorded at 119, which falls in the ‘Moderate’ category; The special thing is that in the morning it had fallen to 97. Pollution levels were gradually decreasing over the last one week, indicating air quality moving from ‘poor’ category to ‘better’ category.

The air became clean due to favorable weather
According to the ‘Commission for Air Quality Management’ (CAQM), AQI was recorded at 119 at 4:00 pm on March 16. Officials say favorable weather conditions—such as light rain and strong winds—have played a key role in reducing pollution. Further, after reviewing the forecasts given by IMD and IITM, the prevailing conditions were considered satisfactory.

In view of the improvement in air quality, the restrictions imposed under the first phase of ‘Graded Response Action Plan’ (GRAP) in the Delhi-NCR region have been lifted with immediate effect. However, officials have made it clear that this relief may be temporary; Therefore, state governments and concerned agencies have been directed to strictly follow all guidelines to prevent further increase in pollution levels.

Weather became pleasant due to light rain and winds
A day of light rain has made the weather of the capital very pleasant. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light rain between March 18 and March 20. ‘Yellow alert’ has been issued for March 20, warning of rain with strong winds. Due to this seasonal activity the temperature may drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.

feeling of slight warmth during the day
On Monday (March 16), cool winds blowing in the morning and evening kept the weather pleasant, although the sun felt a bit intense during the day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 17.4 degrees Celsius. The sky is also predicted to be partly cloudy on March 17.
