A shocking incident related to the safety of women and the behavior of children has come to light in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. A woman jogging in the city has alleged that a group of children aged around 10 made very objectionable and obscene comments at her. The woman made a video of the entire incident and shared it on social media, which is now going viral.
Children’s behavior captured on video
In the video shared by the woman, she can be seen asking the children what they said. Initially, the children try to avoid the questions, but after the woman’s tough questions, their restlessness is clearly visible. The woman captioned the video: “It’s really scary to see that 10-year-old kids have such language and thinking. They were talking about my body parts.”
What is the whole incident?
According to the viral video, the woman was jogging in the area on her daily routine. While she was jogging, some small children playing nearby started making inappropriate comments. The woman alleges that the children were making obscene comments about her body parts (breasts). When the woman tried to stop them and confronted them, the children showed no remorse for their behaviour.
Debate on ‘parenting’ erupts on the internet
After the video went viral, social media users are divided into two groups, but most have strongly condemned the behavior of the children.
Questions on parenting: Many users believe that such wrong thinking in children is the result of misuse of internet and lack of parental supervision.
Demand for legal action: Some netizens have demanded that the Bengaluru Police identify the parents of these children and provide them counselling.
Increasing exposure: Experts say that access to smartphones and uncensored content at an early age is having a negative impact on the mental development of children. Challenges for women’s safety in Bengaluru
In recent times, several incidents of harassment of women in public places have been reported in Bengaluru. However, the issue of small children making such comments has created a new concern for the society. Experts believe that this is not just a criminal matter, but a serious social problem which can be solved only through proper education in schools and homes. As of now, no official police complaint has been filed in this particular case, but the viral video has forced the civil society to think about the issue.
