Udaipur. On the occasion of World Heritage Day, a special seminar was organized in the conference hall of ‘Institute of Urban Planners of India’, Udaipur on Saturday. This program was organized by former Additional City Planner of Rajasthan, Satish Kumar Shrimali.
Professor P.R., Founder and President of Nature Research Society, Udaipur. Vyas gave the keynote address. Highlighting the importance of ‘Geo-heritage’ along with historical monuments, he said: We should not be limited to buildings only, but also have to conserve forests, natural lakes, waterfalls, mountain peaks, glaciers and rivers. Cultural Heritage: It is necessary to keep alive the folk songs, folk dances, traditional skills and art-cultural traditions through ‘eco-tourism’.
Protection of historical and ecological resources: Former senior town planner of Rajasthan, Shri B.S. Kanawat participated in the program as the chief guest. He stressed on the protection of historical forts, minarets and havelis as well as ecological resources such as springs, stepwells and lakes. He suggested that heritage conservation should be made a part of the education system and curriculum so as to create awareness in the coming generations.
Important Activities and Membership: Welcome and Chairmanship: The seminar was chaired by Mr. Satish Kumar Shrimali, who welcomed the guests and finally expressed vote of thanks.
Association with the organization: During the seminar, senior city planner Shri B.S. Kanawat formally joined the Nature Research Society (PRSU). Professor Vyas presented membership certificates to Mr. Kanawat and Mr. Shrimali. Along with these, many other participants also took membership of the society.
Interactive Session: At the end of the program there was an interactive session between the experts and the participants, in which the future challenges were discussed.
The seminar concluded with a pledge to “Save the Earth and Secure the Future for Future Generations”.
