More than 20 states across the country are likely to experience thunderstorms and rain from today as a new western disturbance becomes active. The weather is changing due to the activation of two consecutive weather systems. In Madhya Pradesh, the activation of a new storm and rain system has increased the chances of storm, rain and hailstorm for the next three days. Today an alert has been issued for 34 districts.
Rain and hailstorm alert is issued for 34 districts of Uttar Pradesh. In the last 72 hours, it rained in 43 districts and hailstorm occurred in 10 cities. An alert has also been issued for 17 districts of Rajasthan, where 20 to 50 mm of rain is expected. In many districts the day temperature has increased by 3°C.
On Tuesday, there was snowfall in Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath Dham in Rudraprayag received snowfall for three consecutive days, while eight districts across the state received rain. There is a possibility of rain and hailstorm in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh for the next three days. In Lahaul’s Mosuma Thethup Kurkur area, a large stone rolled down from a hill and hit a car, injuring a couple.
Weather forecast for the next two days
**7–8 April:** Rain, thunderstorm and strong winds are expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan. Over East Uttar Pradesh, light to moderate rain at many places along with thunderstorms and gusty winds—speed reaching 40–50 km/hr—are likely. The Meteorological Department has issued ‘Orange Alert’ for 10 states and ‘Yellow Alert’ for 15 states.

A new weather system has become active in Madhya Pradesh bringing storm and rain. As a result, there is a possibility of storm and rain over the northern and eastern parts of the state for the next three days. The impact of the weather system is expected to remain on Gwalior, Chambal, Sagar and Rewa divisions on April 8 and 9 also.

Today, rain and hailstorm alert has been issued in 34 districts of Uttar Pradesh. In the last 72 hours, 43 districts including Varanasi and Kanpur have received rain. Hail fell in 10 cities including Mathura, Kanpur, Sambhal and Jalaun. In the last three days, 15 people have lost their lives due to storm, rain and lightning across the state.
Rajasthan: Heavy rain likely in 17 districts today, hailstorm also possible; Increase in day temperature up to 3°C
An alert of heavy storm and rain has been issued for Rajasthan from today. There is a possibility of rain and hailstorm in 17 districts including Jaipur. 20 to 50 mm of rain may occur in these areas. In many districts the day temperature has increased by up to 3°C.
Uttarakhand: ‘Orange alert’ of rain issued for the state, hailstorm warning also effective; Snowfall continues in Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag for the third consecutive day
There is a possibility of rain in all the districts of Uttarakhand today. According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall may also occur in high hill districts. There is a possibility of hailstorm in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar and Uttarkashi.
Himachal Pradesh: The state received 120% more rainfall than normal; Heavy hail and storm alert issued
In the last one week, Himachal Pradesh has received 120% more rainfall than normal. The rain is expected to continue for the next three days. The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ of heavy hailstorm and storm in five districts for today and tomorrow.
Punjab: ‘Orange alert’ issued for rain for the state today; Change in weather in Chandigarh also, expected drop in temperature
The weather has taken a turn in Punjab and Chandigarh. There is a possibility of rain and hail today. During this period, winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. An ‘Orange Alert’ has been issued. The average temperature of the state has increased by 1.3°C. However, it is 1.6°C below normal.
