Liverpool, 13 September (). In the World Boxing Championship, women boxers have raised hopes of gold medal for the country. Meenakshi (women 48 kg), Jasmine Lamoria (women 57 kg) and Nupur (women 80 kg) have won their semi-finals and made it to the finals. They have increased the hope of the title in the final.
Meenakshi defeated Mongolia’s Altantesetseg Lutsekhan by 5: 0. Jasmine defeated Venezuela’s Omelin Carolina Alkala Segovia by 5: 0. At the same time, Nupur gave a tough fight to Semama Dujtas of Türkiye.
In the 48 kg semi -finals of women, Meenakshi did not allow two -time Asian bronze medalist Latsaikhan to get rhythm in any of the three rounds and won a unanimous decision by dominating it completely.
The same situation remained the same in the other two semi -finals. Both Jasmine and Nupur never appeared under pressure during their matches.
In the final on Saturday night, Jasmine will face the Paris Olympic silver medalist Poland’s Julia Ceremeta, while Nupur will face another polish boxer, several -time European Championship medalist Kajmarska.
Pooja Rani (80 kg) is also among those who secured medals in the competition. Pooja will play the semi -final match.
In the men’s 50kg category, Jadumani Singh Mandengbam was to defeat former world champion and two -time Asian champion Kazakhstan in the quarter -finals. The 21 -year -old Indian, playing in his first World Championship, gave a tough fight to his experienced rival, but could not escape the defeat.
India has launched a 20 -member team in the first World Championship to be held under the aegis of the recently formed international boxing governing body, world boxing and is expecting good performance in both men and women. The Indian team performed well in the World Boxing in Astana, Kazakhstan. Women boxers have shown their dominance in the World Boxing Championships.
