If you are planning to go to the bank this week, then first of all check the list of bank holidays. Many big festivals come in the month of March, like Navratri, Eid, Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti. Therefore, banks will remain closed on different days in different states of the country. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, bank holidays do not occur simultaneously across the country; Rather, many holidays are for certain states only. Therefore, before visiting a bank branch, it is important to ensure whether the banks are open in your city or not. Starting today—March 17—banks will remain closed for several days in different parts of the country throughout this week. Here we are giving the complete list of bank holidays for this week and the coming days, so that you do not face any problem.

Are banks open or closed today, March 17?
According to the list of bank holidays of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed in some parts of the country today, Tuesday, March 17, on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr. According to the RBI calendar, bank branches will remain closed today mainly in Jammu and Srinagar. However, banks in all other states will remain open and function normally.

When and where will banks remain closed this week?
Throughout this week, banking operations will be affected in different states due to festivals. Let’s take a look at the specific dates on which banks will remain closed in different parts of the country:

March 19 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Manipur on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Telugu New Year and the first day of Navratri. There will be a holiday in cities like Belapur, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Nagpur.

March 20 (Friday): Due to Eid-ul-Fitr and Jamaat-ul-Vida, banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh (especially in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Srinagar). March 21 (Saturday): On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Sarhul, banks will remain closed in almost all the major states of the country (like UP, Delhi, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, MP, Bengal, etc.). However, banks in Kochi, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram may remain open on this day.
March 22 (Sunday): Banks will remain closed across the country as it is a weekend.

Will banks be open on Saturday, March 21?
As per RBI rules, banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. In March, the 21st falls on the third Saturday; Therefore, banks will remain open as usual across the country on this day, and banking operations will continue.

Bank holidays will continue in the last days of March also
In the last week of March, banks are going to remain closed in different cities due to many big festivals like Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti.

March 26: Due to Ram Navami, banks will remain closed in many states including UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, MP and Delhi.
March 27: There will be a holiday in states like Bihar, Odisha and Sikkim on the occasion of Ram Navami (Chaite Dashain).
March 28: Being the fourth Saturday of the month, banks will remain closed across the country.
March 29: Banks will remain closed across the country due to Sunday being a weekend.
March 31: On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, banking services will remain closed in many states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi, UP, Maharashtra and Bihar.

Which services will continue when banks are closed?
Despite bank branches being closed, digital banking services will continue to operate 24×7 as usual. You can use UPI, mobile banking and internet banking to send money or pay bills; Apart from this, you can withdraw money from ATM and check your account balance. However, for specific purposes like check clearing, cash deposits, demand drafts and completing KYC formalities, you will have to visit the bank branch in person. For these special services, you will have to wait till the banks reopen. Before going to the bank, please check the list of holidays.
If you have to complete any important banking related work in March, then definitely check the list of bank holidays before leaving home. This will save your time and you will not have to face any kind of problem due to bank closure.
