The impact of the Iran-America conflict is visible everywhere, from the streets to our kitchens. The rising prices of petrol and diesel are increasing inflation and making road travel expensive. There has been no relief in the price of CNG, and the increase in the prices of LPG cylinders has spoiled the kitchen budget of the houses.
Even during the Russia-Ukraine war, when crude oil prices were rising rapidly, petrol and diesel prices remained stable. However, after remaining unchanged for four years, petrol and diesel prices increased sharply in May 2026. In four hikes, prices rose by about ₹7.50 per litre. Apart from this, there has also been a huge increase in the prices of CNG and LPG.
Talking about domestic LPG cylinders, the price of a 14.2 kg cylinder had remained stable for more than a year before the clash. In Delhi, domestic LPG cylinder was easily available for ₹853. Everything was going well until the US and Israel attacked Iran in late February. The global energy crisis deepened, sending crude oil prices above $125 per barrel. LPG prices are usually changed on the first of the month.
**Domestic cylinder prices increased by ₹89**
Although the rates were announced on March 1, domestic cylinder prices did not change. Due to the conflict, oil marketing companies announced new rates for domestic LPG cylinders on 7 March, increasing prices by ₹60. As a result, the domestic cylinder price in Delhi increased to ₹913. Exactly three months later, the prices were increased again by ₹29. The price of domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has now become ₹942.
**Increase in price of commercial cylinder by ₹ 1,773**
These three months have been a shock for commercial LPG cylinder users. In just three months, the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder has increased from ₹1,740.50 to ₹3,113.50 – an increase of ₹1,373. In February, the cylinder price was ₹1,740.50, but in March there was a double whammy due to the increase in prices. On March 1, 2026, the price of commercial cylinder increased by ₹28 to ₹1,768.50. Then, on March 7, there was an increase of ₹114.50, taking the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder to ₹1,883 in Delhi. As of April 1, 2026, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has increased to ₹2,078.50. The biggest shock came in May; That month saw a historic surge of ₹993, taking the price in Delhi straight to ₹3,071.50. There was another increase of ₹42 on June 1, taking the price of a 19 kg cylinder to ₹3,113.50 in Delhi.
CNG prices also increased three times
During the war, while the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG have increased, the prices of CNG have also skyrocketed. Saturday’s increase of ₹1 per kg is the third hike in less than 10 days.
The price of CNG in Delhi will now be ₹81.09 per kg. In Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, the price has increased to ₹89.70 per kg, while in Gurugram the price will be ₹86.12 per kg. This hike follows an increase of ₹2 per kg on May 15 and ₹1 per kg on May 17.
