If you have an account in the country’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and you have to go to the bank branch to complete any important banking work, then this news is very important for you. SBI employees have announced a two-day strike on 25th and 26th May. Due to this strike – along with festivals and weekend holidays – banks will remain closed for six consecutive days in many parts of the country.
In view of the immense inconvenience faced by customers, SBI has issued an important advisory through its official social media handle (X) on how customers can continue their banking transactions during this period.
**Why will banks remain closed for 6 consecutive days? Understand the holiday schedule**
The complete schedule of bank closure in this last week of May is as follows:
**May 23 (Saturday):** Banks will remain closed as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
**May 24 (Sunday):**Weekend.
**Bakar Eid holiday:** Festival holidays are also falling during this period.
**May 25 and 26 (Monday and Tuesday):** Two-day nationwide strike called by SBI employees union.
As a result, starting from Saturday till next Wednesday, normal banking operations will come to a complete halt. So, if you have work to do like check clearance, loan documents or opening a new account, you may have to wait for a long time.
**SBI has made these 3 special appeals to customers**
In its statement, the bank said that while it is trying its best to keep essential services running at its branches even during the strike, customers should use other methods to avoid any inconvenience. The bank has made three special requests to its customers:
**Use ATM for cash:** If you need cash, please use your nearest ATM or Automated Deposit-cum-Withdrawal Machine (ADWM) instead of visiting the bank branch. Prefer digital platforms: Use digital methods like internet banking, YONO app, mobile banking and UPI to transfer money or do other routine banking activities. Even during the strike, these services will remain operational 24/7.
Get help from Customer Service Points (CSPs): For minor banking needs, you can also visit your nearest SBI Customer Service Point (CSP). The bank has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to lakhs of its customers and has appealed for their cooperation to ensure smooth operations.
