The trend of increasing fuel prices continues in India. On Tuesday, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has once again increased the price of CNG. The company has increased the price of gas by ₹ 2 per kg today. It is worth noting that this is the fourth increase in CNG prices in the last 11 days. After today’s latest increase, the price of 1 kg CNG in the national capital Delhi has increased from ₹81.09 to ₹83.09. Earlier, on May 23, IGL had increased the price of CNG by ₹1, due to which the price in Delhi increased from ₹80.09 to ₹81.09 per kg.
**CNG became costlier by ₹6 in 11 days**
CNG prices have been increased four times in the last 11 days. During this period, CNG prices have increased by an overall amount of ₹6 per kg. The most worrying thing is that it is impossible to predict when and where this current trend of increasing CNG prices will stop. It is important to mention that there are lakhs of CNG running vehicles not only in Delhi but also in neighboring cities like Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. In the Delhi-NCR region, taxis, cabs and auto-rickshaws mainly run on CNG. Apart from these commercial vehicles, many private cars also depend on CNG. As a result, the continuous increase in CNG prices will not only affect the earnings of taxi, cab and auto-rickshaw drivers but will also impose a huge financial burden on them.
**Petrol and diesel prices were increased yesterday**
It is worth noting that the country’s major oil marketing companies had increased the prices of petrol by ₹ 2.61 per liter and diesel by ₹ 2.71 per liter on Monday. Yesterday’s hike was the fourth increase in petrol and diesel prices in a span of just 10 days. After this latest hike, diesel prices in the national capital Delhi have increased to ₹95.20 per litre, while petrol prices have reached ₹102.12. It is worth noting that the ongoing tension in the Middle East is now having a deep impact on India as well. These tensions are beginning to affect common Indians on a large scale. As a result, there are severe disruptions in the supply of crude oil and gas, which is having a direct and adverse impact on prices.
