Gold prices are continuously falling in the country. On the morning of March 20, the price of 24-carat gold in the capital Delhi stood at ₹150,420 per 10 grams. In Mumbai, the price has fallen to ₹150,270 per 10 grams. Just a day earlier, on March 19, a huge fall in gold prices was seen in Delhi’s bullion market. The price fell ₹7,000—or 4.37 percent—to ₹153,300 per 10 grams. The main reasons for this decline include rising inflation concerns, central banks’ tough stance on policy rates, and the rise in global crude oil prices. In the international market, the spot price of gold is trading at $4,678.69 per ounce.

Silver—another precious metal—is also seeing a decline in prices. On the morning of March 19, the price of silver was ₹259,900 per kg. A day earlier, silver prices fell by ₹17,800—or about 7 per cent—to ₹238,700 per kg in the Delhi bullion market. The spot price of silver in the international market is $70.49 per ounce.
