Traveling from Delhi to Mumbai has become very expensive today. Flight fares have suddenly increased, leaving people shocked. On December 4, the minimum fare from Delhi to Mumbai on MakeMyTrip was ₹21,159, while the fare on some flights went up to ₹38,676. The fare for 5th December is also not less. Yesterday’s minimum fare was ₹17,788 and maximum fare was around ₹31,000. The biggest reason for this sudden price increase is believed to be the major turmoil in Indigo.

Continuous problems in Indigo, DGCA called a meeting
There have been a lot of delays and cancellations in Indigo flights for the last two days. Therefore, DGCA has called IndiGo officials for a meeting this afternoon. DGCA has asked the airline how this major problem happened and what plans it has to deal with it.

Main reason for high ticket prices on 4th December
Ever since IndiGo’s problems have increased, there have been a lot of problems at many airports. Ticket prices have increased due to increase in passenger numbers and fewer flights. This has had a direct impact on big routes like Delhi-Mumbai, due to which fares have reached record levels.

More than 100 flights cancelled, passengers upset due to delays of hours
On Wednesday, Indigo canceled more than 100 flights. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad were most affected. 42 flights in Bengaluru, 38 in Delhi, 33 in Mumbai and 19 in Hyderabad were canceled or delayed by hours. Passengers faced a lot of trouble at the airport, many people kept waiting in lines for hours, due to which the complaints of passengers increased.

Indigo said crew shortage was the biggest problem
Indigo told DGCA that the problem in operations was due to shortage of crew. The airline said that out of its 1,232 flights, 755 were canceled due to crew shortage alone. New FDTL regulations have mandated increased rest for crews, resulting in reduced staffing. Under FDTL rules, weekly rest time is now 48 hours, and the limit on night landings has been reduced from six to two. This change has come into effect from November 1. Because of these regulations, airlines are in need of more pilots and cabin crew.

Situation will improve in the next 48 hours
According to Indigo, efforts are being made to normalize the situation in the next 48 hours. Flight routes are being rerouted and some services are being rescheduled to bring back on-time delivery to the network.

direct impact on passengers
On a route like Delhi-Mumbai, where thousands of people travel every day, the sudden increase in fare by Rs 20,000-38,000 is quite significant. Those who are planning to travel today or tomorrow are having to bear higher expenses. Many people have had to change their flights, due to which the crowd has increased further.
