Banks will remain closed in most parts of the country on Friday, May 1. Apart from this, stock markets will also remain closed across the country. This means that there will be no trading on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) or Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Due to bank branches remaining closed, offline banking services will also remain suspended. Tomorrow, May 1, 2026, Buddha Purnima and Labor Day will be celebrated; Therefore, there will be a holiday in banks on this occasion. Branches of all public and private sector banks will remain closed in every state. However, during these holidays, customers will continue to enjoy the benefits of UPI, mobile banking, internet banking and ATM services. Apart from this, other online banking activities will also continue.

Many festivals on 1st May
Tomorrow, Buddha Purnima and Labor Day (May Day) will be celebrated. Buddha Purnima is considered to be the day of birth, attainment of enlightenment and *nirvana* of Lord Gautam Buddha. At the same time, Labor Day is celebrated across the world to honor the contributions and rights of workers. Furthermore, May 1 is also celebrated as Maharashtra Day, which commemorates the formation of Maharashtra state after the bifurcation of Bombay State in 1960.

The birth anniversary of Pandit Raghunath Murmu is also celebrated on this day. He was the creator of the *Ol Chiki* script for the Santhali language and played an important role in preserving the language and culture of the tribal community. 24 May (Sunday) – Weekly holiday
26 May (Tuesday) – Kazi Nazrul Islam birth anniversary
27 May (Wednesday) – Bakrid (Eid-ul-Azha)
28 May (Thursday) – Bakrid
31 May (Sunday) – Holiday across the country

stock markets will remain closed
On May 1, on the occasion of Maharashtra Day, both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed. There will be no trading of any kind on this day. Buying and selling of shares will also remain closed. Due to bank closure, settlement of shares sold today will be done the next day.
