On Tuesday, November 4, a huge fall was seen in the Indian stock markets. Sensex closed down 519 points, while Nifty fell below 25,600. Weak global cues, continued selling by foreign investors and weak second quarter results impacted stock market sentiment. Investors also appeared cautious due to mixed interest rate signals from the US Federal Reserve and uncertainty over the India-US trade deal.

At the end of trading, the Sensex closed at 83,459.15, down 519.34 points or 0.62%. The Nifty index fell 165.70 points or 0.64% to 25,597.65. The broader market also witnessed weakness, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices falling around 1% each.

There was selling pressure in the market throughout the day, due to which the index remained near its day’s low. Almost all sectors closed in the red. The biggest decline was seen in IT, metal, banking and auto stocks. However, the consumer durables sector showed some strength and was the only major sectoral index to close in the green.
