The year 2025 is now at its last stage. Today, Thursday, December 25, is the last trading public holiday of the year for the stock market. Trading is closed today in National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) due to Christmas. There will be no trading in equity, derivatives and currency segments. Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) is also closed for Christmas. NSE has released the list of stock market holidays for the next year. Let us know on which days the stock market will be closed for trading in 2026…

NSE holiday list for 2026

National Stock Exchange has released its holiday calendar for 2026. According to this calendar, the stock market will remain closed for a total of 15 days in 2026. Moreover, there are weekly holidays on every Saturday and Sunday. There is no trading these days. Public holidays in 2026 will start from January 26. The stock market will remain closed on Republic Day. After this, there will be a holiday for Holi on March 3. There will be a holiday on 26th March for Shri Ram Navami and on 31st March for Shri Mahavir Jayanti. There will be no trading on Good Friday on 3rd April and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April.

There will be a holiday on 1st May for Maharashtra Day. After this, there will be a holiday for Eid al-Adha (Bakri Eid) on May 28. There will be a holiday on September 14 for Ganesh Chaturthi, while there will be no regular trading on October 2 due to Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. There will be a holiday for Dussehra on 20th October, Diwali-Balipratipada on 10th November and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 24th November. The last big festival of the year, Christmas, on December 25 will also be a trading holiday.

First and last market holiday in 2026

According to the NSE holiday list, the first trading holiday of the stock market in 2026 will be on January 26 for Republic Day. Meanwhile, the last trading holiday of the year will be on December 25, coinciding with Christmas.
