There was a rise in the stock market on Friday (22 May). Markets closed near the day’s highs. However, the session was a bit of a roller coaster ride. There was some pressure in the second session, but eventually markets closed near their intraday highs. All major sectoral indices also closed with gains.
Nifty closed at 23,719 with a gain of 65 points. Sensex closed at 75,415 with a gain of 232 points. Nifty Bank closed at 54,055 with a gain of 616 points. In the currency market, the rupee gained 51 paise to close at 95.69/dollar. Nifty Mid Select closed with a gain of 29.65 points. Nifty Smallcap closed at 17,956, down 26.85 points.
