There will be a holiday in the stock market on Friday, May 1, 2026, on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. This day is celebrated every year to commemorate the formation of Maharashtra state. As a result, all trading on both NSE and BSE will remain completely suspended.
Partial Trading on MCX
Although the stock market will remain completely closed on May 1, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will not remain completely closed. The morning session on MCX—9:00 am to 5:00 pm—will remain closed. However, in the evening session—from 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm—trading will continue as normal.
