Will 69 lakh pensioners not get the benefit of 8th Pay Commission? Employees union wrote a letter to the Finance Minister, expressed concern

The Central Government on November 3 approved the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the 8th Pay Commission. It is a three-member committee headed by Justice Ranjana Desai. Due to this, the expectations of central employees and pensioners have increased significantly. It is being told that about 69 lakh central pensioners and family pensioners will be out of the purview of the 8th Pay Commission.

The union appealed to the Finance Minister
The All India Defense Employees Federation (AIDEF) has raised this issue and written a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He says that it is wrong to exclude the employees who have retired or are going to retire before the implementation of the new pay commission. In a letter to the Finance Minister, AIDEF said it is unfortunate that those who have served the country for more than three decades have not been included in the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the 8th Pay Commission. According to the federation, pension revision is a right of pensioners and it is “unfair” to deprive them of this right. However, the official notification does not mention this. The employees whose pay and allowances will be reviewed in the notification are as follows:

Central Government Employees: Industrial and Non-Industrial
All India Services Employees
defense forces personnel
employees of union territories
Officers and employees of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department
Members of regulatory bodies established under Acts of Parliament, except the Reserve Bank of India
Officers and employees of the Supreme Court
Officers and employees of High Courts whose salaries are borne by the Union Territories
Judicial officers of subordinate courts of Union Territories

wait a little more
The union says that the working conditions of the 8th Pay Commission are different from the 7th Pay Commission. There was a provision for pension revision in the 7th Pay Commission, but it has been removed from the 8th Pay Commission. As a result, it is natural for retired employees to be upset. However, nothing can be said right now. The 8th Pay Commission will take approximately 18 months to prepare its report. Only after this it will be decided what will be the salary structure for employees and pensioners, how much will be the increase in pension or salary, whether pensioners will get benefits or not, etc.
