India’s defense exports have registered an increase of more than 60 percent this year. Compared to last year, India’s defense exports have increased to approximately ₹40,000 crore. On Thursday (April 2, 2026), Defense Minister Rajnath Singh revealed how many weapons India is going to sell to countries around the world. This achievement of India is a big blow for Pakistan, because Pakistan is still dependent on China and Türkiye for its weapons. As a result, the growing popularity of Indian weapons is bound to increase Pakistan’s concerns.

Rajnath Singh shared a post on social media platform ‘X’ (earlier Twitter), in which he said that there has been a tremendous increase of 62.66 percent in defense exports this year; It has reached this level by increasing from ₹ 23,622 crore in the last financial year. Both Defense Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and the private sector have played an important role in achieving this feat. Commenting on this, Rajnath Singh said that the country is writing a wonderful story of success.

In his post, Rajnath Singh mentioned that this huge jump in defense exports shows the world’s growing confidence in India’s indigenous defense capabilities. He reiterated that the country is truly writing a glorious story in the field of defense exports. The Defense Minister further informed that during FY 2025-26, India’s defense exports have reached an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore.

Rajnath Singh said, “India—once known only as an arms importer—is now making rapid progress in the field of exports. In 2014, India’s defense exports were around ₹600 crore; today, this figure has increased to ₹38,500 crore.”

Over a 12-year period spanning from 2014 to 2026, India’s defense exports have grown by over ₹35,000 crore, with a huge increase of ₹14,802 crore last year alone. Rajnath Singh stressed that this increase—which amounts to ₹14,082 crore—shows the world’s confidence in India’s indigenous capabilities and advanced manufacturing skills. He said the DPSU contribution to this achievement was 54.48 per cent, while the private sector contribution was 45.16 per cent—a figure that reflects the strength of a collaborative and self-reliant defense ecosystem. India’s defense exports were ₹21,083 crore in 2023–24, increasing to ₹23,622 crore in 2024–25.
