Ranchi: Congress has put the NDA government at the Center in the dock over the paper leaks and irregularities continuously coming to light in the NEET exam. While addressing the media at Congress Bhawan on Monday, Congress leader Amba Prasad expressed serious concern over this matter and raised questions on the education system of the government.
Amba Prasad alleged that the future of lakhs of students is being affected due to the alleged negligence and weak system of the Central Government. He said that about 23 lakh students across the country prepare for competitive examinations and invest years of their family’s earnings and hard work in it, but repeated incidents of paper leaks and irregularities are harming their dreams.
Taking aim at the Central Government, he said that despite big claims of improving the education system, the situation at the ground level is continuously worsening. The government is neither able to fix accountability on time nor is it taking concrete steps to make the examination system secure. Despite repeated investigations and assurances of action, the problem still persists.
Congress also raised serious questions on the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA). According to the party, the institution which was given the responsibility of conducting the country’s major examinations has now become a symbol of chaos, secrecy lapses and administrative failures. Continuous paper leaks, rigging in examination centres, irregularities in results and technical glitches have raised questions on its credibility.
Congress demanded that the NEET paper leak case should be investigated independently under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge and strict action should be taken against the culprits. Also, the examination system should be made transparent and secure by comprehensively reviewing the entire functioning of NTA.
The party also demanded that the Union Education Minister should resign, taking moral responsibility, because despite these repeated incidents, the system has not improved.
Congress made it clear that it will continue to strongly raise the issue of protecting the interests and future of students across the country and no compromise of any kind will be accepted.
