TripleIT has decided to completely redesign its M.Tech courses. Students will get a chance to gain expertise in future technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning and Robotics.
In view of the rapidly changing world and new needs of industries, the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) has made a major change in its academic structure. The institute has decided to completely redesign its M.Tech courses. Now the students here will not be limited to only traditional subjects, but will get a chance to gain expertise in future technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning and Robotics.
This important proposal has been approved by the Senate of the institute. This new and modern framework will be implemented with effect from the upcoming academic session 2026-27. The main objective of this change is not only to provide bookish knowledge to the students but also to make them fully proficient as per the demands of the industry.
Name and format of 10 out of 12 courses changed
Out of the 12 Post Graduation (PG) programs currently being run in TripleIT, the names of 10 M.Tech courses and their syllabus have been changed. The institute believes that it was necessary to make these courses in accordance with national and international educational standards, so that the students coming out of here can prove their abilities in any corner of the world.
These programs are mainly conducted under three departments in the institute—IT, ECE and Applied Sciences. Modern technologies have been given priority in all these three departments.
What changed in which department?
1. Department of ECE: The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has now been established keeping in mind the growing demand of semiconductor and communication industry. Under this, students will now be able to study advanced specialization:
communication engineering
Communication and Signal Processing
Microelectronics and VLSI
These subjects will prove to be a milestone for students pursuing careers in chip manufacturing and advanced communication systems in future.
2. IT Department: The most exciting changes have been seen in the Information Technology department. Now such courses have been included here which are the foundation of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. New names and specializations include:
AI and Machine Learning
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
Human-Machine Interaction and Immersive Technologies
Software Engineering and Automation
Networks, Systems and Computing
What are the benefits for students and industries?
The biggest benefit of this change will be that students will no longer have to study in the old style. They will be taught what today’s companies want. Subjects like ‘Immersive Technologies’ and ‘Automation’ will prepare students for the jobs of the future. This move by the institute will not only improve the placement statistics but will also help in making India a global power in the field of technology.
Experts believe that through these new courses, students will get more practical experience, due to which they will be ready to take up big responsibilities in industries directly after completing their studies.
