Government job is the dream of most youth. Many candidates aspire to become an IAS officer, which requires a lot of hard work. However, sometimes lack of information prevents youth from progressing in this field. An important question arises in the mind of every youth who is thinking of preparing for this exam: How many times can a candidate apply for the IAS exam? Number of attempts allowed
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts this exam. UPSC has set limits on the number of attempts for different categories. General category candidates can appear for the Civil Services Exam (CSE) 6 times, and must be 32 years of age or below. However, UPSC gives relaxation in the number of attempts for reserved category candidates. For OBC and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates, the limit is 9 attempts with the age limit being 35 years. There is no limit on the number of attempts for ST and SC candidates.
Eligibility Criteria for Application
To fill IAS form, the candidate must be a citizen of India. They should also have a graduate degree from a recognized university.
When can you not fill IAS form?
Candidates cannot fill the IAS form if they have crossed the age limit or their allowed attempts have been exhausted.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made a major change in its rules. According to the new guidelines, candidates who have already been selected will not be able to appear for the exam again. The eligibility instructions state that candidates who have already been appointed or selected as IAS or IFS officers will not be given a second chance. If they want to appear for the exam again, they will have to resign from their current post.
