Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut withdrew her petition from the Supreme Court on Friday, challenging the High Court’s refusal to cancel a complaint lodged against her for allegedly making derogatory remarks regarding the 2020-21 peasant movement.
The Supreme Court told him, “It was not just an ordinary retweet and you put ‘chilli masala’ in it.”
The Supreme Court flatly refused to hear her petition and said that she could speak in the lower court. The case is related to Kangana’s retweet, in which he commented on an elderly female protestor who was considered a defaulter.
After this comment by Kangana, 73 -year -old Mahinder Kaur, a resident of Bathinda, Punjab, filed a defamation case against her. The matter became more serious when the Punjab and Haryana High Court also dismissed Kangana’s petition. Now this attitude of the Supreme Court has made the legal path for Kangana more difficult.
A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta in the Supreme Court heard Kangana’s petition. As soon as the hearing started, Justice Mehta questioned Kangana’s remarks.
He said, “It was not an ordinary retweet. You added your comment, spice in it.” Kangana’s lawyer tried to clarify and said that her client had clarified his comment. But the court clearly stated that this explanation can be given in the lower court.
