New Delhi, June 25 (IANS). Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, acting on a complaint received during the public hearing, has ordered an immediate inspection of Fortis Hospital located in Shalimar Bagh.
After this, a team of officials reached the spot and inspected the hospital and some irregularities were found, due to which the government has ordered a full investigation.
“If any irregularity is proved during the investigation, strict action will be taken,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement. Every hospital in Delhi is bound to serve patients with responsibility and honesty and the right of patients to timely and respectful treatment cannot be compromised.”
This inspection has been done after the complaint received in the ‘CM Public Hearing’ program. It is a public grievance redressal initiative, launched by the Delhi Government in February 2026, to enable citizens to raise issues related to government services and civic amenities.
Through this portal and mobile app, people can lodge complaints with various departments including Municipal Corporation, Delhi Development Authority and Delhi Police on a single platform.
The Chief Minister has already said that such public hearing is not just a formality, but an effective medium to understand the problems of the people and solve them.
She has instructed the officials to resolve the complaints in a time bound manner and she herself has been listening to the complaints coming from her Shalimar Bagh assembly constituency.
Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh has already been at the center of a legal controversy over allegations of medical negligence in a high-profile case in 2017.
Recently, Delhi High Court has ordered re-examination of the qualifications of two doctors associated with the hospital. This case involves a baby who suffered severe and permanent brain damage while being treated in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The Delhi Medical Council has already barred these two doctors from presenting themselves as ‘neonatologists’ or super-specialists until their eligibility verification is completed.
The government has said that the report of the inspection team will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken if irregularities are found.
The Chief Minister has consistently been in favor of patients’ rights and better health services and has earlier said that the government is committed to prompt and transparent resolution of public complaints.
